Job Description

Position Purpose:

This role oversees capital expenditure accounting and financial management for regional projects. The position monitors compliance, analyzes project financials, bridges Engineering and corporate accounting functions, identifies cost-saving opportunities, and delivers financial performance reports.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

Capital Expenditure Management

  • Maintain project metadata, budgets, and financial data in the source of truth platform.
  • Prepare, analyze, and reconcile project cost and asset data, transfers, and metrics.
  • Ensure accuracy and alignment with project progress through stakeholder collaboration.
  • Reconcile inventory and sales/use tax charges using ERP systems as required.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Conduct monthly expenditure analysis and cost queries using ERP systems.
  • Identify and address data discrepancies with the Accounting team.
  • Identify projects requiring authorization overruns and evaluate root causes.
  • Deliver monthly financial analysis reports to Engineering staff.
  • Prepare expenditure reports for regulatory filings using data from multiple systems.

Process Improvement & Optimization

  • Partner with corporate stakeholder groups to identify cost and process improvements.
  • Present monthly financial analysis to the accounting team to inform business strategy.
  • Identify opportunities for system or procedural enhancements.
  • Contribute to developing processes supporting ESG-related capital activities.

Systems & Training

  • Serve as the regional power user for accounting and ERP systems.
  • Support system upgrades through testing and implementation.
  • Provide training to regional staff on process changes.
  • Train new employees on ERP and Asset Management platforms.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Business Administration, or Accounting.
  • 3+ years of financial, cost accounting, project controller, or cost engineering experience.
  • Experience with Oracle based financial/accounting/budgeting software is a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience working with and learning different budgeting, accounting, or analytical software.
  • Knowledge of GAAP/IFRS accounting theory and practice preferred.
  • Detail oriented and accurate with strong numerical analysis, evaluation and research skills and ability to work with integrity and careful judgement.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suites.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, computer, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing and orally with engineers, project managers, operations, finance, accounting and communications dept. with regard to projects, capital investment, expenditures, schedules, etc.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • Eligibility to take Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is preferred.

Additional Information

Pay Range: $93000 to $110000 Per Year.
