Job Description
Position Purpose:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Cloud Architect to join our Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) team. In this role, this Subject Matter Expert with comprehensive cloud expertise to lead enterprise-scale cloud transformations, will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud architectures on the AWS platform. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements, assess cloud readiness, and design scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions on the AWS platform.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Design and implement cloud architecture on AWS, following best practices and well-architected framework principles and advanced architectural patterns.
- Develop and maintain advanced cloud architecture standards, guidelines, and comprehensive documentation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to cross-functional teams including development, operations, and infrastructure teams.
- Lead cloud migration projects from legacy systems to 100% cloud-based ecosystems.
- Oversee the deployment and integration of cloud services, ensuring alignment with architectural principles and business requirements.
- Optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency, achieving significant operational cost reductions.
- Ensure cloud security and compliance with industry standards (GDPR, PCI DSS, NIST) and regulatory requirements.
- Stay up-to-date with AWS services, features, and best practices, and recommend improvements or new solutions as needed.
- Participate in the development of cloud strategies, roadmaps, and governance frameworks.
- Author thought leadership content including whitepapers and technical blog posts.
Qualifications
Education/Experience/Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 15+ years of experience in cloud architecture and design, with a strong focus on AWS.
- Proven experience designing and implementing cloud architectures on AWS.
- Extensive knowledge of AWS services, including compute, storage, networking, security, and management tools.
- Experience with developing and designing scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant cloud architectures and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools, such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
- Familiarity with DevOps principles and practices.
- Strong understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of AWS cloud computing concepts, architectures, and best practices and Implement cost-effective solutions and recommend appropriate instance types and pricing models.
- In-depth knowledge of AWS well-architected framework and cloud adoption framework.
- Strong expertise in AWS services, including EC2, EBS, VPC, S3, RDS, Lambda, and IAM.
- Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools, such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
- Familiarity with DevOps principles and practices, including CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills to work with cross-functional teams (developers, operations, security).
Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional - required.
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional - required.
- Other relevant and advanced AWS certifications, and Specialty, is a plus.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying up-to-date with AWS services and best practices.
