Job Description

Join our Chemical Solutions and Monitoring (CSM) business unit as a Field Service and Technical Advising Specialist, where you'll play a critical role in advancing the automation of our process chemical monitoring and control product line across industrial water applications. Working closely with regional sales teams and end customers, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor — driving solutions from initial site assessment through commissioning, installation, and long-term support.

As a player-coach, you'll lead by example in the field while mentoring and developing Field Service Engineers (FSEs), Field Service Representatives (FSRs), and Geo commercial teams, continuously elevating technical capabilities across the organization.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct field audits and technical reviews alongside sales teams, providing expert equipment recommendations and clearly defining roles and responsibilities for all site work stakeholders.
  • Commission, configure, and validate chemical feed equipment, including programming proprietary and third-party controllers, integrating metering feed pumps, and connecting monitoring systems — ensuring safe and accurate startup through calibration and verification.
  • Lead electrical and mechanical installations, performing final tie-ins to field applications while maintaining strict adherence to plant, company, and regulatory environmental, health, and safety standards.
  • Collaborate proactively with the CSM sales team to develop and execute plans for automating systems and establishing digital connectivity to the Insight platform.
  • Deliver ongoing technical advising and support — both on-site and remotely — to troubleshoot hardware and software issues efficiently, minimizing downtime and reducing unnecessary travel.
  • Mentor, train, and develop regional FSEs, FSRs, and commercial teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
  • Complete all required administrative documentation, including reports, compliance records, and post-installation summaries, in a timely and thorough manner.

Qualifications

Required

  • Technical degree or diploma in Electrical Technology, Electronic Technology, Instrumentation and Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Instrumentation and Electronics (I&E) or plant operations/maintenance — OR at least 2 years of relevant training through college, military, or technical/vocational education, with hands-on experience in 120VAC and low voltage systems, analog and digital communications, and equipment installation and troubleshooting.
  • Mechanical aptitude for field installations, including mounting equipment, plumbing, conduit work, and tubing in PVC, stainless steel, and copper.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Technically proficient in instrumentation, electronics, and chemical feed systems with a hands-on, customer-focused approach.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with digital communication protocols — MODBUS, OPC, ProfiNet, networking, and cellular communications.
  • Understanding of water treatment processes, controls, programming, and chemical applications.
  • Fundamental computer programming skills, including Boolean and comparative logic.
  • Sound business judgment with the ability to make informed decisions aligned with organizational goals.
