Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Engineering Technical Leader to lead and mentor our engineering team in designing, reviewing, and delivering complex piping and mechanical systems. The successful candidate will serve as a technical authority, ensuring all deliverables—including 3D piping models, isometric drawings, vessel fabrication drawings, and engineered duct drawings—meet ASME B31.3/B31.1 codes, international standards (API, GOST, BS), and client specifications. You will direct Layout and Piping Engineers, review and validate designs against 3D models, coordinate cross-functional activities with Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, and E&I teams across multiple regions, and troubleshoot complex design and field-related challenges. This role requires strong expertise in piping design, stress analysis, CAD/3D modeling software (Plant 3D, Aveva E3D, AutoCAD), and knowledge of relevant piping standards (ASME B36.10M, B16.9, B16.5, MSS SP-58, API 617/618/612). You will act as a technical coach, fostering professional development, establishing technical excellence, facilitating stakeholder communication, and providing solutions for manufacturing and site execution issues through root cause analysis and preventive measures.

Essential Responsibilities / Expectations

Must-Have Requirements

  1. Able to review  Equipment & Piping, Piping Support Layout, Isometrics & Material Take-off from Softwares like AutoCAD 2D, Autodesk Plant 3D, Aveva E3D,Solidworks,Inventor, Creo or Revit etc.

  2. Able to guide 3D Modeler on Single line pipe routing for Equipment Layout, Support marking, Support detailing, Isometric drawings to meet project schedule and submittal requirement.

  3. Knowledge on ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code /B 31.1 Power Piping Code

  4. Participate in 3D model reviews from concept to completion and know concepts of  flexibility in pipe routing.Perform Pipe support span length calculation and review 3D Model.

  5. Coordinating complicated work with professional engineer in various regions, cross functional disciplines like Project Engineering/Mechanical Design/Piping/E&I Engineering.

  6. Able to understand the  process, Equipment design requirements, piping , Instrument applications and support piping team to develop 3D model

  7. Proficient to guide 3D Modellers, PFD/PID Review, Equipment Layout/Single Line Pipe Routing design, 2D drawings extraction- Isometrics/Piping & Pipe Support Layout, Bill of Quantity,Support spacing(Metallic & Non-Metallic lines), identifying clashes & resolving the same.

  8. Able to manage a small team of designers, or technical leads.

  9. Experience on Troubleshooting complex problems related to manufacturing and activities that occur on site & PROJECT.

  10. Knowledge on ASME B36.10M, ASME B36.19M, ASME B16.9, ASME B16.20, ASME B16.5, ASME B16.11,  B16.25, ASME B16.10.Knowledge on API 617, API 618, API 612,MSS SP-58,BS 6501, NFPA 1963.

  11. Knowledge on GOST 32388-2013 Process Piping Stress Analysis, GOST 32569-2013 Process Piping Design, RD 10-249-98 – Power Piping. Design and Stress Analysis.

  12. Shall act as a Technical coach and mentor to the team. Direct & supervise Layout and Piping engineers providing expertise and ensures the application of correct standards in the design and development of projects.

  13. Collaborate effectively with Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Piping, and Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) teams

  14. Facilitate communication between design teams and stakeholders to resolve technical issues

  15. Support piping teams in understanding process requirements, equipment design specifications, and instrumentation applications

 

Good To Have Requirements (That Supports future Career progression in the Role)

  1. Review and sign off Structural drawings against 3D Model, Client Specification for correctness and fabricatability.

Qualifications

Educational Qualification: Engineering Degree – Mechanical / Experience in Mechanical Engineering

Experience Required (Min – Max year): Maximum 15-20 years’ Experience of mechanical design

Revit /AUTO CAD PLANT 3D/ Aveva E3D/SMARTPLANT 3D,Creo/Inventor/solidworks) and AutoCAD Familiarity with international specifications relating to structures, piping and vessels
