The Maintenance Planner assists the Maintenance Department by planning/scheduling all preventative maintenance (PMs) and emergency tasks to minimize downtime of the 24/7 operation of the ECF facility. Improves asset reliability, work force productivity, and work quality throughout the facility by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of various work activities. Duties will include balancing the priority of internal labor demands between reactive and planned maintenance activities as well as scheduled capital projects. In addition, this role will manage Spare Parts inventory through inventory management practices systems and through using standard contracts for goods and services. The Maintenance Planner will assist with planning and administrative closure of work activities using CMMS inventory and asset management systems.

Key Responsibilities:
The Maintenance Planner will review the planned work schedule and reactive needs using key performance indicators (KPIs) as they relate to schedule compliance, staff utilization, effectiveness, overtime, backlog and non-value added time. Additionally, he/she will participate in regular reviews with managers, supervisors and project managers to prioritize upcoming work schedules. The Planner will centrally coordinate, initiate, and process all requirements of having a robust inventory and parts warehousing system.
Key Focus Areas:
Planner
- Manages assigned tasks/projects within scope of responsibility so all KPIs are achieved, including but not limited to safety, productivity, and product quality. KPIs will be measured by KPIs:
- Quality Control: Re-work, accurate data
- Backlog: Number of aging work orders vs age of work orders
- Number of Breakdowns
- Schedule Completion Effectiveness: Scheduled Work vs Completed Work
- PM Compliance: Number of PM vs Completed PM
- Plans each job to ensure that the trades person has all the applicable materials/tools to perform the task. Schedules the maintenance work to optimize the trades and minimize downtime.
- Monitors and schedules backlogged work orders so they are taken care of in a timely fashion and are resolved within the set time frame.
- Administers and optimizes the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Provides training to users as required.
- Oversees that data within the CMMS system is current and accurate. Enters new PM’s as required.
- Maintains the equipment list and adds new equipment as required. Enters PM tasks for new equipment based on manufacturer recommendations.
- Provides reports as required.
- Chairs maintenance planning meetings.
Knowledge, Skills and Required Certifications:
Education/Equivalent/Certification:
- Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification preferred.
- Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (or similar), i.e., CMRP, CRL, ASQ, STLE
- Engineering, PMP certification, and/or equivalent training considered an asset
- High School or Equivalent required. Education or experience with work planning, Materials/supplies procurement, and/or inventory logistics preferred.
Work Experience Needed:
- Minimum of 5-years related work in water utility or similar operational settings is required.
- Experience as a Maintenance Planner in an industrial setting an asset
- Well-rounded knowledge of water utility operations maintenance, distribution, supply, and treatment work and materials used preferred.)
- Education or experience with work planning, materials/supplies procurement, and/or inventory logistics preferred.

- Intermediate to advanced technical capacity with the ability to quickly learn new and/or proprietary systems, to easily navigate mapping, computer, and phone systems used daily including:
- CityWorks CMMS
- PeopleSoft Inventory and Requisition Systems
- GIS
- Permitting and Supplier Websites
- Smart Phones and Mobile Applications
- Microsoft Office applications
- Other skills needed
- Ability to shift priorities frequently and effectively under pressure
- Excellent organization skills

- Ability to work independently & without direct supervision.

Working Environment:
Permanent, full-time position offered, with a working schedule from Monday to Friday, day time.
Salary Range:
$80,000 - $120,000
