Job Description

Position Purpose: 

FINANCE INTERNSHIP - In this role, you will have an opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals within the Finance organization. You will gain exposure to technical and commercial aspects while supporting the finance team with our Corporate requirements. You will assist the Finance team in achieving its project goals and objectives as an active participant.

Internships at Veolia: Gain hands-on experience in at least one career function from Corporate, Engineering, Maintenance, Manufacturing, Operations, Sales, Supply Chain or Technology.

Internships are focused on learning and exposure to fundamental business processes and procedures.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Assist the Finance Team with the yearly budgeting process.
  • Main summer project is to develop an automated conversion of budgets from their current tabular data form into line-delimited text format so that it can be utilized in analysis and actual vs budget comparisons.
  • Work with operations teams assisting in the development of financial reports in support of monthly closing activities aligned to international, regional, legal entity and business line reporting.
  • Work with the financial team to optimize the profitability analysis by Region and by Business Line.
  • Executes tasks directly related to functional projects and/or process improvements.
  • Communicates issues and roadblocks related to areas of responsibility.
  • May assist in research or special projects in a variety of areas in order to fulfill business initiatives and meet business objectives.
  • May be asked to prepare and deliver insights and recommendations based on analyses.
  • Produces findings and draws conclusions from analyses. Makes oral and written recommendations to management.

Work Environment:

  • Candidates may support any of the Veolia North America business functions.
  • Environments vary by internship function from office to field to plant.
  • Our aim is to provide tangible industry job experience to each intern.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background: 

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Working towards a four year degree in a finance, business management or accounting major.
  • 3.0 Cumulative G.P.A required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, listening, presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Strong Excel Skills and Macro/Automation knowledge.

Additional Information

Pay Range: $18.00 to $24.00 per hour.

Benefits: Interns are considered temporary employees. Medical and basic life insurance coverage is available to temporary employees scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week immediately following 60 days of service. Employees must elect or waive medical coverage within 45 days of their eligibility date.
