Job Description
Position Purpose:
The Field Service Representative (FSR) performs a variety of duties in association with water meters, service connections and customer contact while adhering to and complying with company procedures, safety policies, and regulatory guidelines.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Service Activation/Termination: Ability to perform water service activations and terminations.
- Meter Management: Installing, removing, and maintaining water meters of various sizes, including endpoint devices.
- Field Investigation: Conducting investigations in the field to identify issues.
- Leak Detection & Assessment: Performing leak detection and assessing the extent of leaks.
- Infrastructure Repair: Replacing and repairing associated meter infrastructure.
- Tool & Equipment Operation: Effectively operating various hand tools (pumps, wrenches, drills, torches, valve wrenches, metal detectors, etc.) and equipment (meters, backflow preventers, etc.).
- On-Site Premise Verification: Performing on-site investigations to ensure accurate metering of service provided.
- Utilize company technology for work orders.
- Maintain and troubleshoot/repair metering or field issues.
- Handle equipment installation and maintenance.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve customer issues related to water service levels (pressure, flow, etc.) and provide appropriate solutions.
- Work with backflow preventers and related devices.
- Manage metering inventory as needed.
- Data Management:
- Record accurate meter readings.
- Clearly document service activities and field conditions per company standards.
- Complete required reports and time records.
- Track equipment status and maintenance needs.
- Customer Service:
- Provide professional customer interaction.
- Address service and billing inquiries.
- Communicate effectively with public.
- Compliance & Safety:
- Follow company safety protocols.
- Maintain proper work procedures.
- Work independently and under supervision as required.
- Perform physical tasks in various conditions.
Work Environment:
- Monday-Friday from 7:30AM and 4:00PM. The Company will provide reasonable notice of changes in regular work schedules.
Qualifications
Education/Experience/Background:
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- Minimum one (1) year experience in water distribution operations preferred.
- Previous meter reading experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
- Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on resolving technical challenges effectively.
- Proficiency in basic mathematical calculations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to complete skills assessment test when requested.
- Working knowledge or the ability to obtain water distribution systems, including cross connection and backflow prevention principles.
- This role requires the ability to work overtime, with additional tasks assigned by management.
Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
- Valid state driver's license required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Physical capability to climb, bend, and maneuver in confined spaces.
Additional Information
Pay Rate: $33.14 per hour.
