Job Description

Position Purpose:

The QAQC Supervisor is responsible for directing and implementing comprehensive quality
management systems within the laboratory environment, with a focus on leading quality control
initiatives and program implementation. This role manages quality assurance programs, supports staff
development, and ensures regulatory compliance. The position leads internal quality assessments,
assists in performance evaluations, oversees corrective actions, and conducts internal audits while
providing technical guidance to laboratory personnel. Working closely with laboratory management, this
role drives quality metrics, implements quality control programs, and maintains instrument qualification
standards to support accurate and reliable laboratory operations. The supervisor ensures operational
excellence through quality training, process improvement, and maintaining rigorous quality standards
across all laboratory functions.

Primary Duties /Responsibilities: 

  • Oversees laboratory quality programs including the Performance Evaluation (PE), internal blind, and MDL programs
  • Manages the discrepancy investigation and resolution process, in conjunction with the laboratory supervisor and manager.
  • Develops and presents quarterly QC reports.
  • Develops and presents quarterly QC KPI metrics.
  • Conducts laboratory internal assessments and audits
  • Maintains instrument qualification and maintenance programs.
  • Works with the laboratory supervisor to manage staff scheduling and area assignments
  • Implements staff quality training programs.
  • Initiates and participates in staff evaluation and progressive discipline programs.
  • Mentors staff in quality principles and procedures.
  • Leads root cause analysis and incident investigations.
  • Implements and oversees corrective action programs.
  • Competent in both basic and advanced QA/QC processes.

Work Environment:

  • Up to 10% travel

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or a related discipline required.
  • Prior work experience of 6 to 8 years in the hazardous waste industry preferred
  • Prior supervisor experience of 3 to 5 preferred.
  • Advanced degree highly desirable.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: 

  • Ability to handle emergency situations with proper training required
  • Ability to provide first aid, CPR and use SCBA equipment required
  • Sufficient skills/ability to function as an Incident Commander in emergency response situations required
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude required. Demonstrated knowledge and skills in wastewater equipment maintenance and troubleshooting desired.
  • Requires superior interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with client, public, and employees.
  • Ability to effectively train individuals and groups both in the classroom and on the job required
  • Excellent management required.
  • Must possess superior organizational skills and be able to prioritize and work simultaneously on several projects.
  • Ability to operate within a team atmosphere required
  • Ability to assess priorities frequently and effectively perform under pressure required
  • Ability to operate computer and other office machines as needed.
  • Strong mathematics and computer skills including email, word processing, and spreadsheets required.
  • Intermediate/advanced skills in applying Microsoft Word and Excel to prepare memos and conduct analysis of cost and process data desired.
