Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer Intern to support our project management team. This role offers hands-on experience in the planning, execution, and closing of engineering projects, including the unique opportunity to independently manage small capital projects from start to finish. The intern will work closely with senior engineers and project managers to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • End-to-End Project Management: Take ownership of small-scale capital projects, typically in the $5,000 to $50,000 range. Manage these projects from initial concept and scope definition through to design, procurement, execution, and final closeout, providing a comprehensive project management experience
  • Project Planning & Scheduling: Assist in the development of project timelines, milestones, and schedules for larger projects using project management software
  • Documentation & Reporting: Help prepare, organize, and maintain project documentation, including drawings, specifications, meeting minutes, and progress reports
  • Coordination: Liaise between different teams (e.g., design, construction, procurement) to ensure smooth information flow and coordination of tasks
  • Technical Support: Provide technical assistance to the project team, which may include reviewing technical drawings, performing calculations, and researching materials or methods
  • Budget & Cost Tracking: Assist in monitoring project expenditures, tracking costs against the budget, and processing invoices and change orders
  • Site Activities: Participate in site visits to monitor progress, assist with quality control inspections, and help ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Communication: Attend project meetings and communicate updates to project stakeholders as directed

Qualifications

Education: Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering 

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Additional Information

Compensation:
The salary range is tied to the market for similarly benchmarked roles. The range is not an absolute, but a guide, and offers will be based on the individual candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions, as well as internal peer equity.  Depending upon all the preceding considerations for the final selected individual candidate, the offer may be lower or higher than the stated range: $21-24/hr.
