Global Category Manager – Rotating Equipment

  • You can be based in: France, Italy, Germany, or Spain

As Global Category Manager – Rotating Equipment, you will be accountable for developing and executing comprehensive category strategies for compressors and centrifuges globally, alongside pumps across Asia, Middle East and Europe, managing combined spend portfolios totalling approximately £70 million.
Working closely with procurement leaders, technology teams and supply chain partners across our global Treatment & Process, Municipal Water Infrastructure Solutions and Engineering, Procurement & Projects business lines, you will drive strategic supplier development, negotiate complex contracts and deliver annual savings targets. This role requires a strategic thinker who can balance global standardisation with regional requirements whilst building resilient, cost-effective supply chains.

You will lead the development of our strategic supplier panel, define contracting strategies and drive supplier relationship management processes that deliver exceptional value across cost, quality and service dimensions. Your expertise will be instrumental in mitigating supply chain risks through comprehensive sourcing strategies, developing best cost country approaches and identifying opportunities for operational efficiency improvements. Reporting to the Global Category Management Leader for Rotating & Process Equipment, you will influence stakeholders across business units, drive alignment on category strategies and provide leadership with critical insights on market trends and category performance.

Day-to-Day Duties:

• Define and implement global category roadmaps aligned with business priorities and category objectives across all managed spend areas
• Develop and maintain strategic supplier panels for compressors, centrifuges and pumps in line with category goals and business requirements
• Lead supplier negotiations and define contracting strategies that deliver optimal commercial terms and conditions
• Drive annual savings targets, operational efficiency improvements, sustainability initiatives and cash flow enhancements across assigned categories
• Implement comprehensive sole, single and dual source strategies to mitigate supply chain risks and ensure continuity of supply
• Develop and execute best cost country strategies that optimise total landed cost across global procurement activities
• Lead supplier relationship management processes including periodic business reviews to monitor performance against key performance indicators
• Facilitate alignment on category strategy across business units and stakeholders, publishing strategy handbooks for organisational reference
 

Qualifications

Ideal Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent industry experience
• Proven experience in category management, supplier management, purchasing, production control, engineering, or project management within complex organisations
• Demonstrated background in procurement of rotating equipment including compressors, pumps, blowers or centrifuges
• Strong negotiation capabilities with track record of securing favourable contracts and commercial terms
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to influence senior stakeholders across matrixed, multicultural organisations
• Strategic thinking abilities with demonstrated success in developing and implementing category strategies that deliver measurable business outcomes
