Job Description
The Sales Representative for the Water Market in Ontario is responsible for identifying, developing, and nurturing business opportunities in the municipal and industrial water treatment sectors across Ontario. This role serves as a critical bridge between Veolia's capabilities and market needs, driving market awareness, identifying high-value opportunities, and establishing Veolia as a preferred partner in the Ontario water market. Reports to: Vice President Business Development, Strategy, Marketing Key Collaborators: Municipal Operations Team, Sales and Marketing Team
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Market Development and Opportunity Identification (60%)
- Conduct structured market canvassing and research to identify the most attractive areas and opportunities for Veolia in the municipal and industrial water treatment sectors across Ontario.
- Develop and execute a targeted prospecting strategy to identify and qualify high-value opportunities in both the municipal (40%) and industrial (60%) water markets.
- Build and maintain a comprehensive pipeline of prospects and opportunities, utilizing a disciplined approach to lead generation and qualification.
- Attend industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to increase Veolia's market visibility and establish relationships with key decision-makers and influencers.
- Conduct needs analysis meetings with prospective clients to understand their challenges, requirements, and decision-making processes. 1 Draft
- Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals that clearly articulate Veolia's value proposition and capabilities relative to identified client needs.
Client Relationship Management and Market Awareness (40%)
- Act as the primary intermediary between the market and Veolia, translating client needs into internal requirements and communicating Veolia's capabilities to the market.
- Increase market awareness of Veolia's offerings, services, and competitive advantages in the water treatment sector through targeted outreach and relationship building.
- Collaborate closely with the Municipal Operations Team to ensure alignment between market opportunities and operational capabilities, and to facilitate seamless client transitions.
- Maintain regular contact with existing and prospective clients to nurture relationships and identify expansion opportunities.
- Provide market intelligence and feedback to the VP Business Development and Sales and Marketing Team regarding market trends, competitive positioning, and emerging opportunities.
- Support the development of marketing materials and messaging that resonate with target market segments.
Year One Key Objectives:
- Increase Veolia's market awareness in the municipal and industrial water treatment sectors across Ontario.
- Identify and document the most attractive areas and market segments for Veolia to target.
- Establish Veolia as a recognized and credible player in the Ontario water market through consistent presence and engagement.
- Build a qualified pipeline of opportunities that demonstrates clear alignment with Veolia's capabilities and strategic objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field
- 10+ years of sales experience in B2B environment in the water treatment sector
- Demonstrated experience in complex, consultative sales with long sales cycles
- Proven track record of identifying and qualifying high-value opportunities
- Knowledge of the municipal and/or industrial water treatment market is critical
- Demonstrated ability to discover and understand client needs and pain points
- Experience working in matrix environments with cross-functional teams
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong hunter mindset with proven ability to generate leads and build new business
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to develop structured approaches to market canvassing
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
- Strong customer mindset with ability to build and maintain relationships at multiple organizational levels
- Ability to translate technical information into compelling business value propositions
- Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce or equivalent is a plus)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or G Suite
- Adaptability and flexibility in response to changing market conditions and business priorities
- Strong collaboration mindset and ability to work effectively with internal teams
- Bilingual capability (French/English) is an asset
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively within Ontario; ability to travel internationally as required to attend conferences and industry events
Required Residency:
- Must reside in Ontario
Compensation and Benefits:
- Base Salary: $120,000 - $140,000 annually, plus bonus eligibility
- Comprehensive benefits package (details to be provided)
- Travel expenses covered for business development activities
